i think that if your with someone everyday you tend to take them for granted. i definitely think that if you break up or are apart for a while, you tend to miss them and sometimes get over the little things that bother you about them. unfortunately when you get back together it doesnt take long for you to start taking them for granted again

Absence does make the heart grow fonder. My fiance has been serving overseas for the past 8 months. While apart, you start to realize all of the little things that you took for granted, like holding hands, having his arm around you, etc, are the things that you really miss the most. I love him more and more each day. Spending this time apart has really made our relationship and love for each other that much stronger.

Absence makes the heart grow fonder.

My husband is gone fighting to. I miss him so much ! The longer he is gone the more I miss and love him. I know he has to be gone so we can be free , but it still hurts.

I know I love him more everyday. In fact I love him more now then I did 2 yrs ago.

Absence makes my heart (and various other parts) grow fonder. My guy works offshore for two weeks on and then two off. I find that time apart makes me appreciate him more and go out of my way to show him so. I don't mind the two weeks apart because we always have fabulous reunions!

Absence makes my heart grow fonder without my huseband--he's overseas fighting for our country--so I am content in own company knowing that.

Good question. It starts I think though, with how comfortable you are about being with yourself and if your o.k. with that. If you are, then being apart from your companion will probably be fine with intermittent moments of really missing them, glad that you have your own personal time without having to answer to anyone, and sharing good conversations via phone or letter. So in that sense-yes your "heart grows fonder". On the other hand, if your really content with just being with your own company and prefer that, being apart might just be a welcome excuse to self indulge. And/or you really are not as invested in this relationship/freindship as you thought you were. Let this be one of your instinctual guides as to wether or not you should pursue....
