Hey, I'm thinking of getting a tattooo of a butterfly right at my breast clevage cuz I think its cute and sexy, but there are several things that are stopping me going right ahead and getting one:

1) Stereotypes (has anyone recieved any kind of stereotypes after getting a tattoo like persons judging you in a negative way simply because you have a tat.

2) I'm afraid of pain. How long does the pain last after the tattoo? I can probably deal wit the pain a week after its done but not after.

3) Acceptance from friends and family, I guess this kinda links to #1.

Anyway, holla back

Thanks for the answers guys and girls, point taken about breasts sagging when I get older, but by that time I'm not gonna be wearing clothes where ma cleavage is showing, I'm gonna be covering up. Plus its gonna be small.

Not that I'm reconsidering a tat on my breast or anything but my second option is above the ankle, I dont really care wat ppl think, I'm jus t getting second opinions and making a discussion.

The pain is over as soon as the tattoo is finished. It will feel tight and a little itchy but it doesn't hurt while it's healing, just while it's being engraved into your skin.

I think as long as you have SOME clothing in your wardrobe where you can cover it up when showing it might not be appropriate, like in church, or at small children's birthday parties, then the social stigmas that come with having a tattoo shouldn't really effect you. Then again, if you're worried abotu what other people think that much, you probably would feel that way about ANYTHING. It's your body and obviously something you've put a lot of thought into. You should be proud of your artwork :)

If you worry about being judged you may wish to have a tattoo in a fully concealed part of the body. As an artist, I feel the cleavage area is beautifully defining and I would advise you to leave that part free and move your butterfly over a bit. It will be easier to conceal as well and a tattoo peeking over the top of a swimsuit or bra is flattering, anyway.

Regarding the pain - once finished and an aftercare product is liberally applied with a bandage covering it, you should not feel any pain. It will not be a searing pain as previously described. After a couple hours you will wash it and lightly apply whatever the artist tells you to. It should only feel like a mild abrasion when you touch it and remain unnoticed at other times during the healing process.

I would think those friends and family members who disapprove of tattooing will likely state their concerns and then leave it alone. After awhile they will likely get used to the idea.

How bad do you want it? If you consider #1 and #3 befoe you cat then probably not a good idea for getting a tatoo shouldn't be that dramatic anymore-no one will tar and feather you. Be strong in who you are and when you accomplish that and you no longer need everyone's approval then get a tatoo. My rule of life is this-only those who pay my bills have a say so in my life choices and since I am the one who pays my bills guess I havae the say so in what direction my life takes and what I do in my life and that includes if I get a tatoo. It hurts only as long as the tatoo is being done BUT be sure if you get courage and decide to go for it that a clean needle is usedd and you follow after care instructions. Seems like you want to be individual But ....??????? GO FOR IT

this may sound a little nasty but......boob tend to eventually sag.
It doesnt matter what you try to stop it from doing so but they do get that way and then there are stretch marks if you have a child and nurse. SO you may want to rethink where you are going to put it or you are going to end up with a vulture instead of a pretty little butterfly when you get older.
Remember to be able to cover it up simply for jobs in the future. Some jobs do not think highly of tats.
Basically if you must ask anyone, or even yourself, any of the 3 questions then you are not ready for a tat.

I have 2 tattoos and am planning my third. I've never been judged by anyone because of them, but they're also in places that are seen only if I want them seen. The pain depends on your tolerence. I have a high tolerence to pain, so for me, it wasn't bad. In fact, it more or less tickled me. All of my friends and family accept my tattoos.

If you want to get one get one, the pain isn't that bad and goes away soon. Probably before the week is up. As far as stereo types it's going to happen most people stereo type. What do you think of when you hear "Hippie", long greasy hair ragged or weird clothes, unbathed? Well we all didn't or do fit that "type". Except maybe weird clothes, they were "in" at the time.

1. ppl will always judge you no matter if you got tattoos or not. and i get that sometimes some guy came up to me and said he thinks girls with tattoos looks cheap and whorish. but who cares anyways since they got nothing to do with your life.

2. its not very painful. its like when you get scars from accidents...just dont keep touching it, it'll heal by itself. do not put soap on it. wash it with clean water only.

3. i dont know your friends and family and how they react towards it. everyone's different. when i got my first tattoo done was when i was in highschool, some girls stopped talking to me and some girls still do cos they think its cool. well it proves who are the real friends here! those ppl who dont accept you are just dumb and all they do is judge people who are different.

sounds like you're still young, but even if i got tattoos, i re-think twice before i do it. would you really still be proud of the little butterfly on your breast when you turn 80?what if you do think its cool anymore when you became a mom at the age of 30? think carefully.

My husband's mom has a tattoo of her husband (my father in-law) fighting Marvelous Marvin Hagler. He was a pro boxer and this was his one shot at a title so she had a tattoo artist come up with something that wasn't too grand but still reflected how proud she was of him.

To be honest, its kind of cool. Its on her ankle though. But she does get looks from those that "don't approve" but she doesn't care. I love my in-laws because they are so laid back. Like me they don't go through life worrying what people are going to say. You should do whatever you want. Luck.

i personally don't like breast tattoos. breasts are pretty much definitely going to sag as you age.
BUT yes, me and my friends are stereotyped all the time. my friends more so than me because all of my tattoos are hidden unless i show them on purpose.

the pain is different for everybody but mine usually hurt for about three days. on day four the itching starts. it sucks.

my friends and family accept me. my grandparents don't know about my new tattoos but i chose not to tell them because i think it would annoy them and i love my grandparents and don't want to annoy them.

good luck on whatever you decide to do.
