I had an awful father-in-law when I was married to my first wife. He totally disowned her after we married.

Now I guess I'm an awful father-in-law as my son has been married for several years now and we don't communicate. I don't even know his address or phone number. Can't even remember his wife's name.

My fault, not his, although neither one of us has taken the initiative to mend our relationship.

I did have an awful FIL. He was an ignorant, semi-illiterate, charmless, unwashed, smelly, dandruff-laden, argumentative numpty. He's dead now, and I still don't like him.

Actually, I got rid of the wife which, by default, got rid of the MIL and FIL at the same time. Result!!

my father inlaw is very sick but has control of his medication. I have two small children. He often forgets and leaves his medication (very lethal to small children) around. Once my daughter found his whole days worth of tablets and had he presence of mind she's three to give them to me (they were found in my car) When I rang them to tell them my mother in law made a joke about it and did not even apoligise.

I got very sick witha pregnancy related illnes hperemisis gravida and out of desperation and against my wishes my partner contacted his mother. She came down 1000 kilometres to help us and I did not here the last of it. She bought our groceries but refused any money telling me I was poor (i am not) and likening my business I run to KMart and how they do things. To make matters worse she took over the bedroom and I pregnant had to sleep on the couch. She also gave me not a moments peace telling me I should have an abortion. Now when you think about it - do think its right that she should advise her son's wife to abort his child and her grandchild?? Also given the circumstances that she was invited here on the pretence of helping us and trying to talk me into an abortion??? - she was on about it all the time - I actually wanted to go sleep in the garage to get away from her.

When I was pregnant with her second grandchild I had to go to the city for tests and i stayed at her house and in the middle of winter she made me sleep in the shed!! Absolutely disgusting.

I dont know if the ***** is just nasty or she has dementia. She puts her son down all the time, critises his parenting and compares him to his brother. Its quite sickening. I have put distance between us and I dont want her presence at my home again. I am stopping all contact with her grandchildren because I am quite concerned for their welfare around some one like her.
