Jesus was crucified, resurrected and ascended FOR A PURPOSE.
The prophet David knew Matt.22:42-44 [ enemies are Satan & unholy angels, earth is footstool ]; Acts 2:27-35 [ apostles agree Jesus will wait until enemies are on footstool earth. Heb.1:1-13 [ Jesus is with God, on the right hand of HIS MAJESTY ON HIGH, to wait until his enemies in the oldest prophecy in the bible at Gen.3:15 is fulfilled and the opposition is cast out of heaven to foot stool earth Rom 16:20 to be under the feet of the apostles.
THE MOTHER OF ZEBEDEES SONS DESIRED THEM TO BE ON THE RIGHT HAND OF JESUS AND JESUS SAYS ONLY HIS FATHER CAN DO THAT John 6:44; Only the Father can draw those of the raised up at the last day.
Matt.20:20 Then came to him the mother of Zebedees children with her sons, worshipping him, and desiring a certain thing of him. 21 And he said unto her, What wilt thou? She saith unto him, Grant that these my two sons may sit, the one on thy right hand, and the other on the left, in thy kingdom. 22 But Jesus answered and said, Ye know not what ye ask. Are ye able to drink of the cup that I shall drink of, and to be baptized with the baptism that I am baptized with? They say unto him, We are able.
23 And he saith unto them, Ye shall drink indeed of my cup, and be baptized with the baptism that I am baptized with: but to sit on my right hand, and on my left, is not mine to give, but it shall be given to them for whom it is prepared of my Father.
Matt.25:31-34 [ The sheep will be on the right hand, and the goats on the left hand ];
Michael of Jude 9; and Dan.12:1-13 [ AT TIME OF THE END ]; in Rev.12:3,4,6-11,12; with the holy angels cast Satan and unholy angels out of heaven and down to earth.
JESUS WAIT IS OVER AS SATAN AND UNHOLY ANGELS ARE CAST DOWN TO EARTH

I agree with Father K. As a Roman Catholic, I was taught that God is Omnipresent, meaning he is everywhere throughout His Creation. That being the case, he cannot have a right-hand or left-hand side. This is, like many of Jesus' Parables, an example of Biblical Imagery, used to explain how the Kingdom of God will operate. Because of our limited human nature, we cannot possibly comprehend the Kingdom as it is; yet we know from Jesus' teachings that it will be a wonderful place to live forever,(consider that we are only now probing the Universe and its amazing intricacies with the most "high-tech" equipment to date, and yet we will never fully understand it).

At this moment Christ STANDS at the right hand of God. He will not sit at the right hand of God until he takes his bride the church home to be with him. Look it up in the Revelation.

there are references to gabriel being the left hand of god or sitting on his left, but they have some inconsistency among the bible versions.
some references have gabriel as being the holy spirit, so that matches up with the versions having the holy spirit on god's left.

This is what they call in bible language a "simile" or "metaphor". God's right hand is symbolic of his power! When the Bible says that Christ, "sits at the right hand of God" it in effect is saying, "In him is the complete power that is in God himself" which would be fitting since, unlike what Jehovah Witnesses would say, the Bible makes it clear that Jesus was the full manifestation of the Holy God in human form.

I would imagine The Holy Spirit but I do not think I have ever read that in the Bible. The "right hand" refers to the place of power though,that I do know. Shalom!
