At one time, the majority of earth's population believed the earth was flat, and that the sun revolved around it (and was a god itself). These ideas among many others have been very, very popular - and very, very wrong.

Yes and the church said that the sun revolves around the earth. Christianity and Islam have bin at the front of blocking science. They have and always will. Today Christians try to block teaching of evolution. Muslim countries are still in the dark ages thanks to there faith. To me Popularity NEVER determines TRUTH. This kinda reasoning is dangerous and stupid. Think about how crazy you would look trying to explain people that these tiny litlel things in your body make you sick and thats why you should wash your hands. During the Black plague cats where killed since they were the devils 'animal' and yet to sickness was carried by rats. Cats kill rats.

In the Church anything agreed upon by the all believers, over all time, in all places is considered truth. Doctrines of the Church are decided by Ecumenical councils of the church. Today since the Church is divided there have not been any such councils.

The more popular it is ,or if its what the majority believes in or follows, you can surmise that it is wrong. A lot of people adhere to the cafeteria style of religion, taking a little of this, a little of that, ...Ohh... ohh ....none of that, I dont like that.

I`ve studied and prayed for many years and I`ve worked out my salvation with the help of The Holy Ghost who is our teacher.Many don`t think for themselves and that is why in the Bible their called sheep led to the slaughter.
