Yes we will know others in the after life. In Jesus' story of the rich man and Lazarus in Luke 16:19-31, the rich man, Lazarus and Abraham were all recognized by each other in the intermediate state.

Yes. Of course it helps if you have actually visited your relatives and know them to start out with. My father had a near-death experience about 2 years ago and recognized at least one relative who had passed away while he was in a coma. She looked younger and happy.
