I've had chapped lips now for 5 months. I only use vaseline and eucerin to moisturize my lips and avoid further irritation. I'm 41, male, fit - NOT obese, NOT hypertensive, NOT diabetic - does anyone have an idea why and what to do?
P.S. - I am having a dental implant on my front tooth - at this point the pin is inserted and I'm 'waiting' for bone to fuse to the post. Could this be a factor?

You are dehydrated. I know this sounds funny, but that is one of the BIG signs of being too low on fluids. You need to start drinking more water to hydrate your body. Plus, is you are waiting on a healing to finish, your body is working harder to make this happen, therefor, it is depleting itself of moisture and minerals, drink up. I would say using the vaseline may be a factor. Vaseline is a petroleum product.
how and why? Dry heat in the winter is a big cause of chapped lips.

You have a vitamin deficiency; try a couple of B12's every day and a few Centrum multiple vitamins.

If your are breathing through your mouth constantly because you have trouble breathing through your nose then this could cause dry lips. And yes....keep hydrated.
