Swallowing the head of a match acutally works wonders. Army soldiers use it in the field.

Natural vanilla works well. Not the fake stuff, it has to be actual vanilla. I've been using it for years. Bugs don't like it at all. I've had very few mosquito bites in the past 10 years or so that I've been using it, and that's been only when I forgot to put it on. Which is quite a feat in the south during the summer by the way!

Are you sure it's mosquitoes or maybe chiggers? That's a lot of bites. Where do you live that you are being bitten at this time of year? IF it is chiggers, cover the bites with clear nail polish. It suffocates them in the bloodstream. For mosquitoes, there is an actual live plant that is supposed to repel them.

Sleep under mosquito netting, dont eat bananas. They love to bite those who eat bananas.
Mosquito coils work like a charm, so many dead mosquitoes with their tiny feet up in the air on the floor in 5 to 10 minutes of the smoke from it. If I didnt see them, I wouldnt believe it.

There is a certain type of plant that you can buy to plant around your house, that deters mosquitoes. Also, you might wanna try Skin-So-Soft lotion products by Avon. The military has even used these products. They work really well. Hope this works for you!

Vitamin B is a good option - mosquitoes have vitamin B. There are little anti-mozz B tablets you can take before going to bed, but I think they're aimed at children.

Alternatively, there's the classic - get a mosquito net! Its cumbersome, but it works.

My son is highly allergic to mosquitoes, his pulmonologist gives him liquid Thiamine (vitamin B 1). It tastes nasty but it repels the mosquitoes.
