So, I have this orange cat and he's a bit crazy. I've had orange cats in the past and have known other people to have them and they all seem to stay in 'kitty' stage where they never get tired. Wonder if there's some crazy orange furball gene or something...?

I was just curious. He just gets into everything and I've never seen a cat quite like him (and the other two orange ones I've had). He always makes me laugh though, it's hard to get mad at him. :)
And PS to the first guy, I'm not a homo.

I wish I could show a picture of him. He's got some beautiful coloring. His name is Pumpkin but we call him Cinna-Swirl, since he has weird swirls and two racing stripes down his back. (Just wanted to add that in there, haha)

i have an orange tabby, and yes, he's nutty! he acts more like a person than my other cats. he is also more intelligent, and likes to learn tricks. (he turns the light switch on/off if asked!) he solves problems faster, and needs lots of human attention. One minute he's purring, and then- boom, he attacks me- purring the whole time. I was also wondering about orange cats- you see them in a lot of commercials, so perhaps there is something that makes them different. Gotta love the marmalades

I got my orange female at age 9, she's currently 17 and she's never been anything close to crazy :) Maybe it's only orange males???
Just a note re: Lady Rebeccas answer... I think that depends on the area the cats are from. My sister is routinely told her cat is the best calico they've ever seen, because the "local" calicos are a bit crazy/aggressive. Her cat is from about 2 hours away, and not from the same gene pool. Just a thought....

Yes absolutely...scientists have identified gene L-85 in feline DNA that prevents the brain development of certain cats so that they don't mature as well as other cats. These cats also tend to have orange fur, and are playful loving pets. ***Just kidding!;) *** I'm sure there is no conclusive way to tell if orange cats are crazy, but maybe animals researchers or vets would know? Good luck with your kooky cat:)

Actually I have heard that the orange cats are usually all male and they are usually rather intelligent (but aren't ALL cats) I've also heard (ok it was when I was a kid) that if a calico is a male it will be sterile - anyone els heard that one?? As far as orange being crazy - could be he's a bit inbreed but hey it's ok - my orange cat (Pumpkin) was one of the smartest cats I've ever seen, he even got us out of the house when we were having a leak in our heater and that would have killed us all had we stayed - Cats are SMART!!

I have had yellow cats before that were fine. At this time in my life I have a long haired black or sable colored cat that is a problem. He is two years old and getting some better, but... I can't figure out what his problem is caused by. He was given to me and I don't know his heritage. Next time be very careful before you take a cat or kitten to find out what they parents were like. I suspect this cat might have been from feral parentage which is not good. I have another black cat who is 9 years old that I have had since he was a baby who is wonderful. I had his mother too who was white and very gentle. I have battle scars all over me from this 2 year old bratty cat!

Absolutely but that's why we love him.
We got him from the Humane Society (shelter) when he was a baby and what attracted me to him was the way he would jump a foot into the air before pouncing on his toy. His 2 sisters (not orange) were zombies compared to him.
Now, 3 years later, my Griffin (my grandmother's maiden name - she was a red head too) will literally run up the walls chasing a fly or toy and likes to pop out of the blinds to scare people.
Also, when he was a kitten and also when I was pregnant with each of my boys, he would sleep on my pillow, snuggled up on the top of my head! I was afraid to move - when he was a kitten he would attack my hair if I moved too quickly.
And his best friend is our dog Kyra. It's so cute seeing them snuggled together - he's only 11 lbs and she's 84 lbs!
And yet he's afraid of our 3 year old!!! LOL
(He's still not too sure about the 4 month old!)

mine is very crazy!! He likes to do the stupidest but cutest things. Like stand in the middle of the living room and meow one time then jam across the living room jump on the bed then jump off really hard run to his food bowl eat once piece then jump backwards run to the table jump up there slide across jump down then run really fast and go under the Xmas tree and lay down like he's been asleep there all day. I ask him all the time if he thinks that real necessary and he continues to tell me He's pretty sure. So I just let him go. He's bit it a couple of times and smacked his head on the door jam and the Lil' end table in front of the tree but he just keeps going. Of course I stop and give him a lil' rub to make sure he's ok.

What the h*ll kinda answer was that Jukka???? ("idiot")
Anyway....
I've had a series of cats that seemed to keep thier "youthful" personalities: solid white, solid gray, black/gray tiger stripe, orange tabbies, and black/white "sylvester" kitty....just to mention a few. (OH-and that list goes back to and through my youth...they all lived long healthy lives even though it seems like a long list! LOL)
I always enjoyed the "kitten" aspect of my otherwise "adult" cats...made them fun to play with and to watch them socialize w/eachother. Especially since most say that all cats wanna do is lay around and sleep....I think all that "energy" just proves that they had a personality!

Yes, they are insane, but only for one reason... They say that orange cats have a high level of Vitamin C and Citric Acid... I think that would make anybody crazy

Men aren’t “supposed” to seek out advice on how to get women or ask their friends how do I get a girl. We don’t sit around analyzing each other’s relationships. Still, picking up beautiful women is a skill that anyone can learn with enough time, practice, and access to the right resources. Read here https://tr.im/vqTeC
There is a ton of stuff ( to help you get started. Sometimes the techniques go against “conventional wisdom” or what seems to work in movies and romance novels. Push yourself out of your comfort zone and try them – they DO work and they are a huge advantage over the competition.
