why won't my Windows Media Player play avi's?

i have the latest version, but even in previous versions i can only view mpeg s but not avi s. Why? and how can I fix it?

you need a CODEC(encode-decode) to play the AVI extension. i say try to find and download the NIMO codec bundle. It should solve the AVI issue.

you can't make it play AVIs
winamp can play AVIs
realplayer can
quick time player can
almost any media player can, but WMP can't
