I took a prego test last 2 weeks ago when I missed my period and it was negative. I took another later when I didn't get my period again...all negative. Since I am still nursing my 10 month old my periods are irritatlingly 41 days apart. So I have to wait FOREVER to check it. My husband and I want more kids but we were being careful, and we were timing everything...so we thought.
Lately I have been craving caffiene and candy and all sorts of junk. Since I thought I wasn't prego and my son eats solid foods along with nursing...I thought we were ok. I knew in the back of my mind that I should start taking my multi-vitamin again. But I ignored it. AND I have been feeling skinny and in shape??? WHAT...? my husband said "your stomach is looking flat" Is this a joke?
Anyway, my question is have a totally messed my baby up by eating junk in the begining stages? Can I make up for it? How? Should I not go snowboarding this weekend? What specific effect does caffiene and junk have on him?

so you are concerned that maybe you are pregnant? Or you are sure that you are? Or you are concerned about the child you are breastfeeding?

I'm confused, are you pregnant or not?? The prenatal vitamins are recommended because they contain higher levels of folic acid which are important because they can prevent neural tube defects.

Your post looks like you're slightly hopped up on caffiene at the moment and if you're pregnant, which I can't see anywhere in your question where you said you actually are pregnant, caffeine and candy aren't the end of the world, no you have not "messed your baby up" but I would definitely try to do better now. It's not like you were binge drinking and chain smoking :)

Congratulations on the pregnancy, and remember that nursing is NOT and effective form of birth control.

It is okay to have up to 300mg of caffiene a day during pregnancy. And vitamins although important throuh out are not really important till the second trimester. (Most women are keeping anything down till then anyway) You are not hurting a baby, but if you are pregnant and now know start taking the vitamins and cut back on the caffiene.

I would avoid any possibly dangerous activity like snowboarding until you know for sure (get a HCG blood test from your doctor ... it will tell you 100%). As for the caffeine and no vitamin.... you most likely haven't caused any damage. Start taking them now (make sure they have folic acid in them). So many people get pregnant unexpectantly and drink alcohol and smoke and do things much worse than caffeine and go on to have healthy babies (if they stop those behaviors ASAP after finding out). The chances of anything bad are so slim. Start taking care of yourself and your possible baby now. Good luck.

Well as you know vitamins are important to take especially folic acid, it helps prevent certain problems in the spinal cord.
Caffeine is aloud but limited. I was allowed to take up to so many milligrams of caffeine a day. I was having severe headaches in the beginning of my pregnancy. One to two cups of coffee is fine

No, you haven't messed up the possible baby and caffeine would not hurt at this stage. You may not be pregnant
