It’s great to hear that you are going to start something that’s positive and will get rid of that negative stress energy that’s building up day after day. The weight training is a great start, and don’t let anyone discourage you from lifting the weights because you’re a woman. There are a lot of women weight lifters out. Aside from the weight training which will be awesome, I would recommend weapons training for you. Something along the lines of Kenjutsu would be of a great benefit. There are many avenues to take for weapons training. Kendo and Iaido the art of fighting with the sword will help you deal with your stress in a very positive way. I know as I speak from experience when I say that it’s one thing to bang away at a bag to relieve stress it’s another thing to learn to hone your stress and make it work for you instead of against you. Learning with a weapon such as in Kenjutsu will teach you how to ‘build channels’ for future stress, at the same time, it’ll give you more focus. Try it out and you will definitely like it as you watch-feel a weapon become an extension of you.
Good luck in your quest for stress relief.

Most clubs/dojos will let you try a few classes for free. Try as many as you need; and talk to the instructors If you don't like the instructor- you'll be more stressed!! There is also nothing wrong with training in martial arts, and weightlifting. You might even find an instructor who can help you with that too.

I would suggest something like muay thai where you can strike as hard as you want and they train you pretty rigulourosly so by the time you go home you are too tired to be stressed.. I think If you were to do something like TKD to relieve stress you will end up getting more stressed and frustrated, I used to do MMA and the TKD kick etc.. are so complex and confusing I'd go home frustrated, plus the place I trained at didn't even break me into a sweat... Muay Thai is simple non frustrating and is great for stress relief.. after a crap day at work I can't wait to go to training to beat the crap outta the pads...(i Imagine it's my boss and it feels great)..

For me the best stress reliever was always sparring. It was the best and most rigorous exercise for me and I really, really enjoy it. I've found nothing that has ever relieved stress like that.
Second best was just a really good aerobic workout like fitness kickboxing (I usually followed that class up with real kickboxing so I was happy as a pig in, well, you know what).
My best advice is just visit schools around you and see where you're most comfortable. Usually everything else falls into place after that.

I've practiced Tae Kwon Do for a lot of years and find it a good way to bleed of stress and stay in shape. Just make sure you find a dojo that you feel comfortable with. Each master has his/her own style of teaching.

When I get that much stuff going on at once, I take about an hour to just go for a job and listen to music. Surprisingly it helps a lot. It gives me alone time and exercising releases endorphins which make you feel good.

Depends on what kind of stress meditation works, but if you need to hit some thing, I recommend either judo or Tie quan do
