Not at all.
I was in the same boat last year and went all out. I feel silly about it now. I am still with this person but all the same I think you should get to know eachother first. Had I known him like I know him now I wouldn't have bothered LOL. Something small like a card and a bag of licorice would be appropriate. Anything else would be corny. Ten days is nothing. Don't waste your money.

Considering there seems to be a lot of controversy on this one, I'll set you straight. You don't HAVE to buy ANYONE a gift for Christmas, but because he's your boyfriend, and you supposedly really like him alot, the least you could do is get him something small. A smallish present would be most appropriate, but even more important is hanging out with him then. (If he's really into the holiday.) Giving gifts makes anyone a happy person. Also, TALK to him about it. I did, and my girlfriend and I set limits on how much were were spending. Just be like, "hey, what'd'ya wanna do for eachother for Christmas?" The correct answer is often the most simple.

You do not have to feel pressured to buy the guy something. If you really don't feel the need to buy him something you shouldn't, especially since you just starting dating him. Frankly I guess it depends on how well you know him. Were you two friends before you began dating??? If you still feel awkward about giving each other anything since you don't really know each other too well, just don't. If you feel the must that you should buy him something (which is something you should never feel) just get him something small that won't cost an arm an a leg.
Never feel obligated to do anything. :-D

here's a suggestion...discuss this with your boyfriend! It doesnt have to be awkward. if u agree to get gifts maybe u can even talk about a spending limit. he will love it! because im sure hes thinking the same thing u are, should i buy her something. clear the air and just talk about it. this will be a test of your communication. say whats on your mind and never assume anything because we both know that leads to u making an a** of no one else but yourself. smooches!

yeah! i mean you don't HAVE to get presents for anyone, but you do it because you care about the person, not because you are obligated to. So i think you should get him something small and thoughtful and cute. Something personal that means u thought about him, but nothing too big b/c its only been like a week and u dont wanna make him feel uncomfortable.

(and even if he doesnt get you seomthing, if u care about him, it'll show what a sweetie you are!)

Yes, you absolutely do. It doesn't need to be anything romantic or creepy (no giant heart-holding teddy bears), but since you are more than friends, it is pretty much an obligation.

Things like a CD from his favorite band or a "I'll Pay for the Move Date" coupon would be good.

no he doesn't care. he's thinking more about how soon you'll give it up. and if you already have he's thinking about "if you are trust worthy or are you just a whore he has to worry about you cheating on him." no you don't need to buy him crap.
