depends what the hug is all about.
if you are comforting someone who is hurt or sad or crying the hug may last until the person feels better or calms down.
a friendly greeting hug should last a few seconds... i think of it kind of like a hand shake, a firm, not wimpy grasp and its over anything longer would imply something more.

family and friends i give hugs for a second to min. but his this he and i like each other and everytime i see each other i give him a long hug and he rubs his hand or tumb up and down on my neck or back. so a hug is a hug and depends on how long and all depends if anything is said during a hug or not. funrels everyone is sad and hugging. so, you take a hug any way you want it.

i hug guys all the time and there just my freinds! hugs are hugs and honestly they dnt mean a whole lot! especially in the adult world but in the middle skool world they mean something to others but between me and my guys its just another hug
