gordon is pretty lax but I have interacted with those guys in AIT and they still have that scared look in their face everyone in basic has, so I would say you probably are not gonna have much time for a tv or ps2

AIT... That's after basic, so, Let me recommend that you limit your entertainment to something small, like a gameboy and an inexpensive mp3 or portable cd player.

In AIT, you will have time to relax, but it's not a luxurious life. It's a slight upgrade from Basic.

I have two MOSs. First AIT we got to go out four weekends of the 10 weeks. The rest was pretty much a less formal but very structured version of basic training. The second AIT, we got to go the run of base after school, but still stood room inspections DAILY and uniform inspections as well.

Your day will be very structured and I am VERY confident in telling you that you WILL NOT be permitted anything like a TV and a game console during your stay.

It's 5 months which is kind of long, so, maybe you will be permitted more of those kinds of luxuries, but not until A LOT closer to the end. Even then, I doubt you'll be allowed a TV.

A portable DVD player is another great idea, however, THEFT is another concern. At the end of AIT, when the others (And you) are getting their assignments and shipping out, you are HIGHLY LIKELY to have something lifted from your posession.

For the last week or so, LOCK UP EVERYTHING!!! Even your shoe polish!!! (I'm really not kidding)

And don't forget...When you are arriving, others are still leaving. WATCH YOUR STUFF!!!! Don't lend any money to ANYONE!

Good luck!

OK here's the deal, FT.Gordon is AIT and you will have lots of fun at FORT RESORT (Army wide nickname for Gordon because it is a BLAST ,NO LIE - I was 36C cable dawg/pole climber and some of my fondest memories are from their because you are more relaxed and the people are all the the same skill and you will meet folks there that stay in contact forever!) AFTER you get through with Ft. Jackson ,now these so and so's are a different kettle of fish altogether!-lol The reason I say Ft. Jackson is its only 100 or so miles from Jackson to Gordon on the map ,but its like going from prison to the WALDORF ASTORIA . AIT is getting to be more like a TECHNICAL UNIVERSITY so you will be able to have all your cool gadgets in your room but first you will spend 2 monts in BASIC and you will find NO TOLERENCE for toys of any sort at basic and rightly so because you have a tough 2 months ahead of you and your days are planned down the MINUTE ,but in AIT it will relax alot but depending on the DRILL SGT's the toys will be a possible THEFT issue so have a way to secure them that fits into the SOP - So go to basic get honor grad then ride the bus to gordon get settled THEN have mom/dad/wife/girlfriend send you the items AFTER you ask what the current SOP is !

I had a girl who could use cell phone in her AIT.
Surprised the heck out of me. Supply MoS.
That was a no go when I was in, but its a different type of army now -- and a different MoS I guess.

Like I said in the other answer, keep it simple, Letter writing stuff ATM card and a Bible.
Work on your PT in your free time..worked for me.
350 final pt score
:)

Bring anything you want to. The commander in charge needs some new toys.
