Much of it doesn't make sence, some words i don't get, some parts are so boaring that i barley pay attention and then I can't even remember what i just read so I read it again and the same thing happens, and some parts seem to contradict other parts. so How am i suppos to learn about God and get close to him if I can't read his book!?

Try reading the bible without trying to look into it too deeply. If you get tired put it down and come back later. Some books including the bible take a lot of willpower to get through. The fact you want to do it means you have what it takes to achieve your goal. Set yourself achievable goals and also try writing out the verses you are reading and write your interpretations next to them. Kind of like keeping a journal. Dont try and learn too much at once the bible can get really deep in parts. Ask within for guidance and understanding with what you are reading. Close your eyes and mull over the verses you are struggling with. let the answers come from within. Then note them in your journal next to the scriptures you wrote down. Even if it is disbelief, write your emotions and thoughts down anyway. Take a bit every day and look back after a month or so. If you dont understand a verse make a note next to it saying I dont understand. Then revisit it later. The trick is to be honest with yourself when keeping the journal. Best of luck with your journey through this one.

Start with these verses only. You will understand and it will be as if a blindfold was lifted off of your eyes. You will see through a new pair of glasses. Ready?
1. From Old testament Isaiah chapter 64 verse 6.
2. New Testament Romans chapter 3 verses 10 and 11.
3. New Testament Romans chapter 5 verse 12.
4. New Testament Hebrews chapter 9 verse 27.
5. New Testament John chapter 3 verses 16 and 17.
6. New Testament Romans chapter 10 verses 9 and 10.
You can find what page each book of the bible is on at the front of your Bible in the table of contents. Then look for the chapter and then the verse. Until I read and understood the above verses 31 years ago, the entire Bible made absolutely no sense at all.

Well, the problem is that it is not really His Book, it is just a very peculiar book written in a very peculiar way like, symbolically? The second clue is that it is a paradox; and third, the subject been treated has to be known before any part of the book start to make at least a little sense to you. You don't really think that Genesis is really talking about the creation of the world, do you? It is very simple. First, the word creation used here is generic. Second, when you want to create something new in your life, don't you first need and idea, a body of knowledge, and time and space to make that idea a reality?, well?. Look at the word "light" in your dictionary, i think in one of its meaning or use you'll find a figure that will tell you something special about that "First Day of Creation" that's created so many arguments. The book's not been made to make sense simply read, and it is not a simple work of art of literature. The truth is not really hidden from anyone, if you sincerely seek, you'll find the way to it.

Get a Bible Commentary. It'll explain what you're reading verse by verse. And some cultural knowledge of the Bible is highly recommended. Nothing in the Bible contradicts each other. Some parts seem like they do but with cultural background knowledge, you'll know that nothing is contradictory. Such as Jesus' geneology, how one genology is different from one other written about him. It is explained in a Bible commentary. And like how it says Jesus was buried for 3 days but he was buried on a friday and raised on a sunday. seems a bit contradictory doesn't it? absolutely not! Historians found that Jews back then considered any part of the day counts as a whole day. So even if it was for just the evening of the day, it still counts as one whole day. Get a Bible commentary, it helps a lot.

Don't worry about it. Read it at your own pace and things that don't make sense today need not be read again for now. When you get to a story that you think you may be able to sink your teeth into (that means that there is some substance there for you to understand), then ponder it and figure out why it is in the bible and how does the story aid in purifying the human heart of its impurities. Bit by bit you will be building a new understanding, and the pieces of the puzzle will start to fit. Later you can go back and read what before was not easily understandable, and get some meaning out of it. Go at your own pace. There is plenty of time.

Yes you can do it, pray and ask for the calmness and quietness and private time you need to concentrate and go to the new testament of the book of John and start there, if you don't understand it all, ok, just keep reading, don't give up even if you read the same chapter over and over, don't move on until you get it, and sweety, you will I promise you will. If your heart desires the word of God to be inside, The Lord Himself will make sure that it is delivered to you directly from Him, Bless you and enjoy the journey!

Actually, a very small percentage of people have undertaken the studies necessary to properly interpret scripture. It is taken out of its religious and societal context and filtered through our culture, which distorts the actual message. But don't give up hope. There are well-educated people that can help you comprehend the meaning to the various books of the Bible. But probably what would help you the most is to get a paraphrased Bible, such as the Living Bible or the New Living Translation Bible.

The reason you have such a hard time understanding it is because it was translated from a dead language that is very different from English. And contrary to what you may think, the Bible is NOT the word of God.

Search for God in your heart and soul. Question what you've been told and always search for the truth. You will not find the truth in the written word of mankind.

jODIE, THANK YOU FOR READING THE word of GOD. YES IT CAN BE CONFUSING. and GOD intended it to be that way, because HE wants those who are ready to change their lives and surrender to HIS SPIRIT, can understand.. so try starting out with the structure of the BIBLE.. the best place to start is with the gospel of JOHN. read it, and if necessary read it again. You will have to be patient with the learning, as the WORD will come to you as u surrender a little at a time. learn that GOD has the boooks organized a certain way. and if u look at it that way, it will make sense. the BIBLE is not organized in the order that it was written in. that has to do with history. so email me if u need more help.
