It depends on what state you are in. TECHNICALLY, in my state, all biologic materials must be accounted for and destroyed by a licensed medical waste management facility. If someone wants their tooth, though, I gladly give it to them. I'm trusting that they won't go straight to the newspaper and tell anyone I violated the law.

I never heard of such a law. I wonder what would happen to you if you kept it anyway... are you breaking the law then and can be arrested?

woah, right now... I can see thousands of kids "getting rid" of the evidence so they won't have to go to jail and pay the price for breaking the law and keeping their own tooth...

That's true. It's considered a biohazard because you could have an infection. This wasn't a big deal before hepatitis and HIV became so prevalent. It's a sign of the times.

Well... When I was younger my dentist had to pull teeth on 2 seperate occasions. Those teeth he allowed me to keep in their own little plastic box that he gave me.
So I'm not sure. It might've changed.

woah...? I have never heard that...When I was younger and had teeth pulled I could keep them and I did for what ever reason. That is some crazy law you have there in you city/state.
