I got a tattoo done on my lower stomach on Friday and surprisingly getting it done didn't hurt much at all. But, now that it's healing it hurts when I walk or bend I think it's because my pants are rubbing the tattoo a bit but I can't really prevent that. How long is it normal for the pain to last?

Also my tattoo looks a little bit dry. The first day I cleaned it and put the ointment on I think I put too much on and woke up with a lot of the color on my sheets so I dont put that much on just a tiny tiny bit because I heard it's better to have it be too dry than too moisturized. Is it normal for it to be looking dry at this point (4th day) or should I put more ointment on it?

THANKS!

well i just got my tattoo done on saturday on the back side of my leg and it hurt for 2 or 3 days and not really bugging me or hurting anymore as i been cleaning it with soap my artist told me to get 3 times a day and letting air dry then using A@D ointment on my leg after it has dryed and so far no problems but then you lower stomach is a painfull place to get a tattoo done and the fact your pants may be rubbing against it and a reason why its hurting so much.. I would go and talk to your artist and see what he has to say about it and give you some pointers on what to do since it is still bugging you..

Be careful with your pants rubbing against the tattoo. Stop putting ointment on it and buy some Extra Dry skin Lubriderm. You should stop using ointment after the 3rd day or so.

If it itches, SLAP IT. Do not scratch or attempt to pick the scabs or you'll have a tattoo with ink missing!

got the inside of both ankles tattooed (over the ankle bone itself) and it hurt a lot for about a day after, even moving my ankles hurt. That's about the most painful tattoo when it came to healing. I have a lot of tattoo's, in all of the places people say are very painful to have tattooed and they've all healed with no pain, but those two hurt like a *****.

Use burtz bees ointment that will help. It probably hurts because you are streching the skin.. Kind of like streching a rug burn or scratching a sunburn. Don't put too much ointment on it.
I have 8 tattoos - I only put ointment in the a.m. and p.m. Try not to soak in the shower either - that tends to dry the skin... The pain may be contributed to the fact your clothes rub on it to...

It should feel like a sunburn...you should try to wear very low pants that are of very soft material cause too much rubbing will wreck your tattoo. You should only apply the antibacterial ointment for the first 24 hours, then switch to a fragrance free, sensitive skin lotion or cream. You should apply the lotion or cream often to keep the tattoo nice and moisturized...if it dries out too much it will cause premature peeling and cracking of the skin.

yes it is normal for it to look dry....that means that it is healing.....the tattoo is basically going to heal like a scab...for the first few days when you are applying the ointment, is it going to be a soft scab....after that the skin underneath will start to heal more and become a dry scab....you will want to find a fragrence free lotion (like lubridrem) and apply it to the tattoo after you clean it....whatever you do DO NOT apply anything like neosporin to the tattoo (this will cause the color to fade)....the scab will eventually start to peel off...DO NOT PICK ANY OF THE SCAB OFF YOURSELF...let it come off naturally (picking it off can cause lighter spots in the tattoo)....if it starts to itch, slap it instead of sctratching it....do not go into tanning booths or submerge yourself in water for at least 2 weeks....and do not shave the tattoo until it is completely healed (that was hard for me, i got my first tattoo on my lower stomach too)

the tattoo should be healed within a month...after that, everything should be fine...just apply lotion when necessary!

dont worry, it should hurt for about 1-2 weeks. color rubbing off is normal too. make sure you keep putting the A&D ointment on and put alot on. this keeps the ink in your skin. try wearing light pants (pj bottoms ex.) to keep the rubbing to a minimum on your tat. maybe when you are home not wearing pants at all until yout tattoo is healed. i have one on my foot and i couldn't wear regular shoes for a month.

You should prob. put ointment or fragrance free lotion on it. When mine got dry that was the only time it would hurt. I was told to put lotion on though and that seemed to help a lot. I was constantly applying lotion and it hardly ever hurt.

Its gonna be uncomfortable and be "ugly" for the first week or so but its normal. its also normal for color bleeding because its not gonna be as bright as when u first got it....Also yea its not to good to have alot of moisture cuz it slows down the healing.
