You HAVE to keep the cat away from the tree. If it eats the needles they become harder in the stomach and perforate the intestines.
A painful nasty operation and serious cost to you.
I had a cat that would not stay away from the tree and he ate the needles. Cost me 1200.00 for the operation, intensive care and post-op medications. Get a fake tree if you have cats! Throw the tree out get a fake. The tree is irresistable to the cat and unless you watch it every second you are home and put the cat in another room when you are not home you are going to have troubles.

You should keep a spray bottle (of water) by the tree and spray the cat every time they come near the tree. The cat will soon associate the tree with getting wet and will stop going near it.

You will have to lock him in another room until the christmas tree is gone. Cats instinctively love to climb and the highest place in the house is ideal. Your cat is doing what nature is telling him. You are a wonderful owner to bring your cat the tree of his dreams, complete with balls, lights, and decorations to play with. The answer to your questions is....you can't!

You cannot teach a cat like you can a dog. Either move the tree or lock the cat in another room.

you could attempt to submit slightly one gate around the tree or block off the room the tree is in. every time the puppy starts to chew on something he shouldn't - say "uh uh" firmly and replace regardless of he's chewing with ideal chew toy Labs who're experienced and exercised are no longer loopy. i understand - I even have 2 labs. sign in for obedience training and walk them 2 circumstances according to day. Spend a minimum of one hour according to day interior the lower back backyard with some style of working pastime. Counter surfing - I did 2 issues: a.) Double sided tape on the best edge of the counters - dogs do unlike sticky paws. b.) used a internet cam and watched him from yet another room - the 2d he have been given on the counter - i could walk in and firmly say "no - off".

Theres noway you can keep your cat away from the tree. You cannot change the natural curiousity of the cat,,its just too tempting.Spraying with water, is a temp. solution.Just wait until you turn your back, or leave.Anything that dangles or glitters is fair game.

You could put foil around the bottom of the tree because some cats absolutly hate foil.

Put some tin foil on the floor under it. That'll keep him away. I just let my 4 mo old male kitty climb up it - but when I am not home I put the foil flat under it and he doesn't go near it.
