She is only a child and we have reason to believe that the step father is a suspected pedophile. Mother is not a stable person either. Her father and I are worried that she may be sexually active and possibly not by choice. How can we find out for sure. She does not live with us but her mother so would like some help as to what to do and where can we go for help. This is from Australia so need pertinent answers for this country and it's rules and regulations concerning this. Not to say we would not like anyones opinion from wherever. Here's hoping someone may be able to help us. Thanks!

wow - well obviously you need to protect this little girl. if you cant mention your suspicions to mom, which if shes any kind of a mom - you should be able to, but if not, try talking to authorities in your area or social services someone may be able to help. you could also try talking to her or taking her to a doctor for an exam. as her father he has that right. report your suspicions you would much rather be safe than sorry. good luck

I'm an Aussie. There are intervention groups in Australia, www.healthinsite.gov.au/topics/Child_Abuse is the best link I could find. Worth asking the police quietly, too, there's usually someone who knows what to do. Some social workers are very familiar with the possibilities, too. Good luck.

I'm in the USA but one of the best ways is get her to a doctor who can check if she's still a virgin, check for tears etc. Only thing I can think of.
