Why do Christians say "holy" bible? Because The Holy Bible is a bible and it is holy. Yes, there are unholy bibles. People have mentioned plenty including the satanic bible.
A bible is "a book regarded as authoritative in its field." The word "bible" is still widely used today. There are over 11,000 of them listed in the business section of Amazon alone.

The word bible comes from the Greek word biblia meaning books. The bible is made up of different Holy books thus The Holy Bible. Also to remind us that it is not written by man and has been sanctified Holy by God

Shalom,
Because using additional names gives them the illusion of intelligence. Many just write and use all these foreign names just for the heck of it. Like you will see people call God yhwh instead of God. Because that name makes them feel more powerful, like they know more truth. Same with the holy bible. Add holy one there and it gives them the impression that they our free of all wrong and they are righteous. What they don't know is the bible is a very selective set of scriptures(which went through tons of corruption) picked out by pagan Rome leaders to keep mankind shackled to ignorance.
Peace
Aza

The basic word "bible" comes from the Green word "biblos" which basically is talking about books.
bibles = books
In book stores you can find different "bibles", maybe a chef's bible, a carpenter's bible, a mechanic's bible, etc.
But then there is "The Holy Bible". It also is a book, but it is a very special kind of Book. It is "The Holy Book".
And, why do you write "bible"? Why don't you write "Bible"?

Yes - there are many unholy bibles.
Holy simply means set apart, special.
Bible simple means book.
Holy Bible means the set apart book. It is different than the Mein Kampf of Hitler, the chick lit, Tom Sawyer etc.

I may be in left field here, but I think "bible" means a collection of books. Since there are many collections of books, that would explain why this one is called the Holy Bible.
