I look at some of my friends who have profiles on different site and they put down that they are looking for a relationship not a hook-up. But then someone will show interest and they meet them and have sex with them. Then to add insult the dirt bag has a girlfirend. I look at my friends and can't believe that first off...they would sleep w/ a guy they met on-line...secondly..they have a girlfriend. I think it gives us good women a bad rap. That is why men look at us as sluts. Have some self respect.

I agree with openwater. Its not just women but men too.
The real problem is that it is very difficult to find honest people online. Somehow, it seems that "faceless communication" gives some people a supposed license to say whatever they want and not have to actually mean any of it. :-( Its very frustrating for those of us who are seeking genuine relationships because its hard to convince people looking for the same type of thing that we aren't interested in sex, at least not at this stage of a relationship.
So if you are a guy or a girl that does this, PLEASE STOP!

Sorry, but it's not only women who are doing the lying. The Internets seem to give people (men and women) license to create a persona that simply isn't them. That's the problem with meeting people outside of the conventional system of face-to-face interaction. It's a risk.
There are many many men in "long-term relationship" sections of on-line dating sites who are trolling for sex. It takes all kinds. And it isn't always the women doing the lying.

Either the person wants to just hookup, or they are afraid of what people will think of them. I dont really know what to say, but i agree with you. If someone is looking for a hookup, then thats what they should put in their profile. If they are looking for a relationship, then they should put that and ignore the interests of a hook up from other guys.

you're of course not heavily searching for someone then so why toy with a persons' thoughts. in case you cant be straightforward on the website whats to say you're an straightforward man or woman as a rule. No female needs a guy who isn't straightforward. definite you need to offer up and get off the internet website. i wager you stumbled on that some thing you concept will be relaxing isn't so relaxing anymore.

It is impossible to answer that question. Some women want to be someone besides who they really are because they are disappointed. Others because they can. Others--Desperation. They are not getting enough attention from their partners. Some people are not outgoing so they socialize on the Internet. The reasons are endless.

other than the fact that your question is retorical , you really need no awnser you seem to have it figured out yourself , but tis true women like that do give ladies bad reps. , tell them to grow up and try to find some self-respect and not let someone use them like that , it's not right...
