I mean after he dies.

You guys are the sick ones. I thought it might be nice to have him stuffed and put him on his cat pillow beside the TV. What's so bad about that? Lot's of people have ceramic cats or plush cats. I've had this cat for almost 14 years. It's not like it's going to hurt him.

Just so you sick bastards can sleep tonight...I wouldn't pay $1,000 for it. Know that he'll rot in the ground with bugs, maggots and worms munching his flesh. That should make you ecstatic.

And I don't see what's undignified about a cat remaining in excellent condition for a long time instead of any other alternative.

Depends on how much he eats. For my biggest cat, we're looking at probably 2-3 pounds of kibble... so about $4. For the smallest, she'll barely eat more than a handful, so I'd guess no more than a buck.
Of couse, if you want the cat stuffed well, you're going to have to use tuna instead of kibble... expect your costs to increase.

Look up taxidermist in your phone book. They would be able to give you an estimate on prices. Are you sure you really want to do this? It would be a constant reminder that you cat had died. I don't think I could handle it myself. The stuffed the cat will be cold and stiff. Not moving soft and purring. It'll be DEAD!

If you have the cat stuffed have it done by a good and qualified taxidermist (your local museum may be able to give you details), but I had mine cremated in an animal crematory (recommended by my vet) I had the ashes divided and buried one part by her favourite sunny spot and the other I kept in the house. I also had a photobook made from a photo hosting site.

i understand what you mean by not wanting to bury him but do you think that getting him stuffed would be the best idea???
maybe you could think of getting him cremated instead and then you could chose to either keep his ashes or sprinkle them somewhere that was special to you and him i think that would be a much better idea more peaceful like i mean im sure after death you wouldnt want to be stuffed you would would much rather be cremated to its a more dignifeied way of resting compared to stuffing and being buried.
have a think about it its not to costly either compared to stuffing him.
a lot of animal shelters will do it for you as well.

It's not cruel because the animal is dead but it is sick. Would you really want someone scrapping out his internal organs and poking out his eyes to replace them with glass eyes so you can sit him in your house only God knows where? Would you do that to a family member? My feelings aside, I've heard it is expensive to do, close to $500 - $1,000 depending on where you go and how you want it done - i.e. what you want it stuffed with, what kind of eyes, etc.

First of all, I don't see why that one person thinks you are cruel. I am an animal rights activist and I don't think it is cruel. They are, afterall, dead. I just don't like the idea of making animals into artwork like that. It deprives them of their dignity and I think you should bury them instead.

However, all that aside, I beleive you are looking at close to $1000. But I'm not sure.

I'm not sure exactly how much it costs but I know it costs a LOT! Once he is dead, why do you want him to go through someone digging out all of his internal organs and stuffing him? We all love our pets and don't want them to go but really, spending thousands of dollars on stuffing him isn't going to "bring him back". He won't be the same.

Do you know why cats hide when they know they are dying? It is so they can preseve their dignity. Maybe its best to respect the dignity of other creatures at death so we can have good karma. No, offense meant. I do understnad your desire to be able to see your cat even though he is dead. Why not take pictures of him instead for memories?

about $450, if you just want the front mounted it would be 70% of the cost.
