I have the same problem! My standard poodle will eat her food for about a month then just stop completely! I have switched her food numerous times and then she would start to eat for only a month again... I now give her a can of canned food with 1/2 a cup of dry and that is what she eats for now! I know how frusterating it can be!
I would first try to put the cat food up high - the dryer is a good place to start. I have my one cat eating on the dryer - that way she can still eat with the dogs but they won't eat her food.
If your dog still doesn't want to eat, try some canned food - a good quality food not the grocery store brand. There is no problem feeding canned food as long as it is a good brand. You can mix it with some dry food to keep your dogs teeth shiney!
GOOD LUCK!

Don't let him eat the cat's food. It is not balanced for dogs. Buy a quality dry dog food from the pet or feed stores. Do not buy dog food from the super market as it is of poor quality with fillers like corn and by-products. Dogs do not eat these things in the wild. They are carnivores and eat meat. Feed a high quality food like Innova and a few others. Do a search on Google for quality or natural dog foods. The best consumer is an informed consumer. Good Luck!

OH yeah. I have to feed my cats up on a table. They love it, the dog would eat it for sure. lol Never let a dog near cat food or the litter pan. It doesn't work out too well. Since the cats can jump, I allow them their own area out on the porch on a table. Try that. I used to use the dryer when I didn't have any other space for the inside cat I used to have. Whatever works. He'll eat again when he's hungry and can't eat their food. lol

My dog had the same problem!!! I tried putting the cat food up high so she cant reach it, but she just ignored her food. I tried all the expensive brands too!! So I gave up and I just gave her cat food.... everyone was happy. Then I saw "Beneful" at walmart and decided to give that a try. She chows on the new food as soon as I pour it. Must taste good.

That's what happened to my dog so we got him better dog food like some canned meat that's dog food.
You could also tell him to eat eat his food and move the cat's food somewhere where he cant find it but the cat could.
Make sure he doesnt eat cat food.

Is there a way that you can put the cat food up where he can't get it? Because if he can eat that he will probably prefer it since it has more grease, fat, protein in it.
As long as he can get the cat food, he might be filling up on that and then doesn't want his food.

cat food typically has more meat in it.. try switching to a better dog food.. if he is on any of the cheap ones - its meat he is looking for..all foods from grocery store and wal mart are CRAP
2 things you can do though... put GARLIC on the food - dogs love garlic
put his food in the microwave to release the oils and make it smellier = yummier
HIDE THE CAT FOOD (up high) = no cat food = hungry dog = will eat his food

Feed the cats in another location then just feed him his normal food. When he gets hungry he will eat his food.

Separate the dishes; even if you need to put them in different rooms. Try a tablepoon of Olive oil on the dry food. Mix it thoroughly. It is good for dry skin and the coat.
