can I use maraschino cherries in place of bing cherries in my gelatin salad?

If you put marschino cherries instead of bing in cooling jello (jello needing to be firmed in the fridge) they will sink to the bottom. If you are mixing them in, like a fruit salad, they should be fine.

Sure, they are just a sweeter (because of added sugar) and reder (because of food coloring). The coloring might sweat into the gelatin but I suppose that would be ok too.
