I had a similar problem but the little glitch I picket up from a add-on stole my home page and made it impossible for me to change. At least the normal way.
Try this and maybe it will help you.
after logging on to the internet: go to the tools bar at the top of the screen. Next pick internet options at the bottom of the drop menu. From the internet options across the top go the the programs tab. From the programs tab look down the left side to "manage add-ons". Click on the manage add-ons tab. after the add-ons screen populates you will need to use some cauton scanning the add-ons. Decide which one you maybe do nt recognize that would go to any thing you want. Just try disabling them one at a time. Make sure you change the home page if you have the same problem I had. Good luck and try to think you way through and change.
A refreshing thought just like in the movie "caddyshack"
Be the computer guru. na!na!na!na!na!na!na!na!na!na!na!
Hope this helps or at least guides you into figuring out how to correct.

When I re-installed Windows before being able to install service pack 2 I was getting all types of pop-ups that looked like they came from Microsoft I just ignored them went ahead and installed SP2 and the pop ups were gone. right click on "my computer" click properties if it doesn't say "Windows XP yada yada yada service pack 2" then you need to download it right now from Microsoft.com
If it does then you should Try TrojanHunter it should rid your computer of all it's ailments

This is telling you that your version of Microsoft Windows is not authentic, it is pirated.
To correct this problem click on the star, it should take you directly to Microsoft's website. Order an authentic Windows operating system through them.

Take the CPU to the store where you bought it to confirm the licencing of Windows XP. It sounds like they either need to reinstall it or disable Windows from "checking for updates" where Microsoft intrude into your computer to check the validity of their products.

This is usually a case of spyware. You have to download spyware remover like http://www.spybot.com which is one of the best or go to the microsoft website and download windows defender and see if that can catch any spyware after you do a scan.

so you believe everything that just pops up on your computer that you didn't install huh?
that is how people lose their bank accounts cause they don't think. think about this...you didn't install it....so it must be a virus, spamware or spyware....DUH
