Don't you have to stand up in the court room when the judge walks in?
Now what about the Almighty God Jesus who made that human judge.

John 1:3 All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.

We stand to show respect to our Savior. The gospels are the first hand accounts of Jesus' life and contain his quotes. When the Gospel lesson is read during a High Mass the priest comes into the congregation and brings the words to the people in the symbolic way in which Jesus came to us.

In some Churches, the Congregation (as they are able) stand for the reading of the Holy Gospel of our Lord.

Stand as a sign of respect.

Also, if you've been sitting for a while you might be starting to get drowsy; standing may help you to waken; and also prepare you for better listening to the sermon/message/homily which probably follows the reading of the Holy Gospel.

All Christians must stand with attention when the holy words of the Lord's Gospel are being read. This is our reverence for the Lord.

who could imagine to do otherwise????

In traditions that have people stand for the reading of the Gospel it is a sign of respect for the words ... that they consider holy and from the hand of God.

Respect, but that is usually before the delivery of the gospel unless the Holy Spirit directs otherwise

Where in The Gospel does it say that you must stand while reading it?

We worship God, not the Bible.

I can understand the desire to pay respect to God and to his word too, but I've never attended a church that explicitly required you to stand while anyone read the Bible. They might ask us to stand sometimes, but just as often they do NOT ask us to stand.
