the new one has 210 with the new ohc 4.0, it's the same engine that powers the 97 Explorer so well :)

The 1998 Ford Mustang 3.8 liter V6 was rated by the factory at 175 hp, an increase of 10 hp over the previous year. In 2000 the 3.8's power was increased to 200.

If you are really set on upgrading the V6, Cold Air Intake, Throttle Body Spacer, Throttle Body, High Performance Fuel Injectors, Dual Exhaust, Tuning Chip. Just realize this, you are going to spend a ton of money doing it, and by the time it is all said and done, you could sell that car and buy a 2000-2004 Mustang GT and put the above in it, and be pretty fast.

It is 200 HP. Depending on the upkeep of the engine and miles I would estimate actual horsepower now to be somewhere from 180-190HP.
