It's sweet that you're so worried about your dog and it's natural too. You love the personality of the dog that you know now. Rest assured though that this will not change his upbeat personality. Initially he will be groggy from the anaesthesia and he will be a bit disorientated. Give that about 24 hours or so to work its way out of his system. 48 hours later he should be fine. He won't even be ginger about losing his kajoolies either. He'll still run around and do all sorts of things - even before the stitches come out!
One thing that you might want to do though is get one of those elizabethan dog collars (or alternatively cut the bottom out of a bucket and thread it through his collar but make sure it's not sharp or it could hurt him) so that he isn't licking and what not at his stitches as this can impede the healing process.
In terms of his long term personality - one major difference is that he won't be as determined to mark his territory (aka pee all over everything in sight) as much. He won't get as excited when there's a female in heat. He will still be excitable when you want to play tug of war with him, he's still going to be ecstatic when you come home from work. You're doing a good thing having him neutered. You'll really like the marking less though. I think that's the best thing about having a boy neutered! :)

Your dog will calm down a bit, but not enough. My dog is one year old, has been rambunctious and the most funny dog running around the back yard like he's chasing something, but when he got neutered, it only slowed him down for a few days after. This is a good thing you are doing for your dog. You're making sure that no unwanted dogs are coming into the world, and as my vet says, are being a very responsible owner. He's not going to loose anything, but he will remain your constant companion. He'll just be a little changed, not a lot. (Don't worry so much!) :)

he will contemporary as depressed for some days; it particularly is him getting over the anesthetic, and there's a small quantity of discomfort. next week he would be himself. Neutering won't substitute his character. there is a few reason to have self assurance that he would be greater lively, now: a male mammal spends approximately 10-15% of his ability protecting his reproductive equipment, 24/7. Neutering frees that ability up for different purposes. Neutering will plenty shrink his inclination to pass away abode in seek of intercourse; the older he's whilst neutered, the fewer this could word. I had a neutered husky as quickly as, neutered at age 5, who acted completely as though he substitute into nonetheless intact, inclusive of competing for lady interest with different intact adult males, or perhaps protecting an erection. i do no longer understand if he would have performed a mating; he in no way had the prospect jointly as I owned him. He won't benefit weight until you fail to exercising him. undergo in techniques, a drained dogs is a happy dogs.

I had my dog neutered a few months ago. He is still the same dog but a lot more lovable and snuggly. He doesn't bounce off the walls as much. But we still wrestle around and horse play and stuff. So don't worry his personality will stay the same.

No way! You can not change a dog's personality without doing an lobotomy. Neutering is on the other end. Don't worry...it will only change his ability to create unwanted puppies.

No definately not! All of that is just a myth! My dog is neutered, and he is still as crazy as anything! He still chases flashlights, barks at that little chihuahua, slobbers, chases his tail, and all of the other silly things that he does (that's the reason why I love my dog so much!). Don't worry! Your dog will still be fun!

He will be the same, just a little drowsy from the medicine for a day or two. Thank you for being a responsible pet owner and having him neutered. Best wishes.

I could only wish that is true. My dog was spayed and she didnt calm down that much. She still has an up-beat personality, at the age of 4.

No, not at all! He'll be less stressed, more affectionate, and live longer, but neutering doesn't affect the dog's basic personality.
