1. Buy the pre-made dough you find in the dairy case.
2. Heat veggie oil in a pan.
3. Cut the dough into smaller pieces, you can punch holes in them to make ring donuts.
4. Mix cinnamon and sugar on a plate and roll the cooked donuts in the mixture.
5. Enjoy.

The quick way is to use canned biscuits. Just flatten them slightly and cut out the centers. You can then fry them on each side until golden brown and puffed up.

For true doughnuts try this recipe:
2 cups all-purpose flour, sifted before measuring
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/8 teaspoon nutmeg
1/4 teaspoon salt
2 tablespoons shortening
1/2 cup sugar
1 egg
1/2 teaspoon vanilla
2 tablespoons vinegar and enough regular milk to make 1/2 cup

Into a bowl, sift together flour, baking soda, nutmeg, and salt. Cream shortening; gradually add sugar, beating until light and fluffy. Add egg; beat well. Stir in vanilla.
Add combined vinegar and milk alternately with dry ingredients; stir just until well blended.

Roll small quantities of the dough at a time, to about 1/3-inch thick. Cut doughnuts with a 2 1/2-inch cutter and let stand for about 10 minutes. Fry in hot fat at about 365° to a nice golden brown. Turn once. Fry only 3 or 4 batches at a time to keep fat from cooling down. Drain on paper towels. Makes about 18 doughnuts.

This one's a little different - for your collection...

"Portuguese Doughnuts" - 4 1/2 dozen

2 (1/4 oz.) pkgs. active dry yeast
1/2 cup warm water (110-115*)
1 1/2 cups warm milk (110-115*)
5 eggs; beaten
5 tbsp. sugar
1/4 cup butter; softened
1/2 tsp. salt
5 to 5 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
Oil for deep-fat frying
Granulated sugar or maple syrup

In large mixing bowl, dissolve yeast in warm water. Add milk, eggs, sugar, butter and salt; beat until smooth. Stir in enough flour to form a soft dough (do not knead). Place in greased bowl, turning once to grease top. Cover and let rise in warm place until doubled, about 1 hour.
In an electric skillet, heat oil to 375*. Drop tablespoonfuls of dough, a few at a time, into hot oil; fry 1 1/2 to 2 minutes on each side or until deep golden brown. Drain on paper towels. Roll warm doughnuts in sugar or serve with syrup.

Take a can of biscuits, cut a little hole in the center (or not) and deep fry in fresh oil until light brown. Dust w/ powdered sugar when done.

You can deep-fry canned biscuit dough (cut holes in the middle) and add powdered sugar when they're done. It works pretty well.
