well if you're past your teens, get a more mature looking haircut and wear more mature looking clothes (not saying that you don't already but i don't know what you wear). clothes with cartoon characters on them and such will set you back quite a few years. don't overdo your makeup- it will look like you haven't figured out how to do it yet. too much eyeliner looks immature. act mature too.

Don't wear a lot of eyeline (sketchyyyy), wear subtle, well done makeup.
Hair is a big thing too, have a frizzless, college-like bob.
Wear darkly colored pea coats and knee high boots over dark jeans in the winter to look older.
Also, try acting mature. Don't let your parents do the talking, take initiative and say hello to the waiter or waitress first.
And don't sweat it when people mistake you for someone younger--It's not like they mean any harm or if they knew any better...
I have the opposite problem, people offer me credit cards (I'm sixteen) and drugs... (5'ten")
Good luck :)

Since you do not say how old you are, let me just say....
DON'T RUSH IT!!!!
You will VERY VERY VERY MUCH appreciate the fact that you look younger when you are no longer young.
Don't put on a bunch of make up or dress beyond your age. It WILL NOT make you look older, just CHEAP!!!!
When you are at a restaurant and they hand you a kid's menu, politely say... "May I please see the regular menu? Thank You" No need to get mad about it.

girl, appreciated your youth while it lasts! i'm almost 22 and look nothing like a 22 y/o and i am loving it. It's a hassle when you get carded at the bars and clubs, but the way i do my make-up helps to make me look older. trust me, we'll appreciate it when we're older.
you could try darker shades of eyeshadows, wear more sophisticated clothing. None of the low cuts and short short shirts that show your belly button. that's a young person trying to look old typology, but it's actually the opposite. it makes you look immature.
shoes tell who you are as well.
Use accessories in moderation to bring out the more sophisticated side of you.

Try wearing some light makeup. Mascara and a little bit of eyeshadow. Also try wearing heels and try wearing more sophisticated clothing. Like Cami's under a low cut sweater and skinny black jeans. Hoop earrings also make you look older. Just make sure you don't get too slutty or wear too much makeup because you'll just look like a little girl trying to look like her mom.

Don't feel bad when I was 17 people could not tell my sister and I apart. The funny part she was 11. As I got older it has been to my advantage. I look younger than most people 53 and I have no wrinkles and look younger than my friends.

I understand what you are saying because you want to be taken seriously. Me, well I want to look younger!!!
Wear more makeup. You can use eyeliner and that will give the illusion of being older. Wear heels and sophisticated clothing. Make sure your hair style is up to date.

I think you could make yourself look a lot older if you dress older. You can still have fun, but wear clothes that an adult would wear. Try mascara, not too much eyeliner, and just a clean look. I got asked for kid menus until I was 14, so I understand. Oh yeah, fix your hair. But don't let it get to you, one day you'll love it!
