This is the question I asked:
http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=Aun_RGJU823ezlqZbDrBdH_sy6IX?qid=20061218172244AAuevu1

As I said in my details, I have a brother but we don't have the same mother. Does this give a clue about my point about Mary? This point was completely skipped over by the ones who blindly gave an answer.

Protestants, try to show me one place in the Bible where it names any other son of Mary besides Jesus.

P.S.
There was more than one Mary in the Bible, so it would have to be the same Mary that was the mother of Jesus.

You are correct.

There is an ancient text called the Protoevangelium of James. In this text we find many of the early teachings about Mary. We find that Joseph is already an old man with a family when the temple priest arrange his marriage to Mary.

When we read in the Bible that James was the brother of Jesus that could mean that he was Jesus' half brother through Joseph. Apparently Joseph dies before Jesus begins his public ministry. According to Catholic, Orthodox and every ancient Christian tradition the brothers of Jesus are NOT born of Mary. The Protestants just made that up in the 16th century because they couldn't accept that Catholics could get anything right.

Matthew 12:46,47.

46 While He was still talking to the multitudes, behold, His mother and brothers stood outside, seeking to speak with Him. 47 Then one said to Him, “Look, Your mother and Your brothers are standing outside, seeking to speak with You.”

Does that sound like other Marys? That is Mary his mother, the wife of Joseph. The Pharisees and Priests also complained that He blasphemed when He said He is the Son of God, because they knew His mother and brothers.

There is no reason to insist that Mary did not have any other sons. But of course the Catholic Church must insist on saying that Mary has no other sons. Be happy with what you think is true according to your interpretation.

I don't KNOW that Mary didn't have other children by Joseph or not BUT consider this.
HE WAS HER HUSBAND!!! Do you honestly thing she withheld herself from HER HUSBAND?? Legally in those days she could not do that! I VERY HIGHLY DOUBT that Mary STAYED a virgin.
I mean isn't that why they went to the temple to be "purified" after giving birth in those days? so that their husbands could touch them again?
And if you have sex often enough the chances of conceiving are HIGH.
So While I don't KNOW for sure if Mary had other children the probability is high. very high.

I have a sister, but we don't have the same father...so?
Did you read my answer to your first question?
Mary was NOT a perpetual virgin.
The kids might not be hers, but in all probability they were...but what's the chances that Joseph left them behind when he went to Bethlehem for the census? Wouldn't he have had to count them, too?
Where were they during the sojourn in Egypt?
Perhaps Joseph left his older children behind? Would God have chosen a man who would leave his children behind to raise Jesus?
In fact, why does the Bible not mention them AT ALL till Jesus is a grown man?

in medieval society only the first born son had a claim to any lineage. so to say Jesus son of Mary would be correct, but to say James son of Mary would not be correct, James would simply be brother of Jesus.

if the children were from another woman than they would be Bastards and not mentioned at all.

not a protestant, I am a Pagan. I have studied medieval terminology and birthrights. as well as lineage and many different religions and the history associated with them.

Answering questions? What about the systematic exclusion from the canon of any direct ties to Jesus' family by the early catholic church? In order to better make Jesus a diety, they had to distance Jesus from his humanity, yet we historically know that Jesus had an extensive family. But in history, whether theological or governmental, the victors get to press forward their perceptions of what was important. Jesus' brothers and Mary lost.

I hear you. I'm just saying that protestants think that James the brother of Jesus is the full brother, you think he is a half brother. So what? There will be no agreement here, maybe you are right, maybe you are wrong....

I forget which gospel it is, but one of them mentions an occasion where Jesus was in a packed house and one of his disciples said "your mother and brothers are outside" and Jesus responded with something like "these are my mothers and brothers".

While he yet talked to the people, behold, his mother and his brethren stood without, desiring to speak with him.
Then one said unto him, Behold, thy mother and thy brethren stand without, desiring to speak with thee.
But he answered and said unto him that told him, Who is my mother? and who are my brethren?
And he stretched forth his hand toward his disciples, and said, Behold my mother and my brethren!
For whosoever shall do the will of my Father which is in heaven, the same is my brother, and sister, and mother.
