I suggest McAfee Security Center, its the newest software by Dell. It comes loaded with VirusScan, Personal Firewall Plus, Privacy Services, and Spamkiller. It also notifies you when you have potential hackers or abuse risks. Automatically runs updates, and notifies you when you need to restart. A+++!

I'm using AVG now but i find it kinda slow in scanning my system. So i take turns in using Spyware Terminator (freeware) and Ad-Aware SE (freeware) coz these are great detectors. Plus you should also install Spybot---it's a must!
They are all free!!! Go to www.softpedia.com

NOD32 is the best and it's 100%!
Read up on it at their website and you'll be impressed!
I have XP Pro and NOD32 uses virtually no system resources, which means it does NOT slow down my computer, (unlike McAffee and Norton!!!
