Do most places sell them free with their shots? If not how much do they cost and would a 500 sq foot studio apartment be enough room for them? If not how would I train them to be half outdoor?

That would depend on where you got the kitten from. Most animal shelters will give them their first set of shots. And some breeders will give them their first set as well.

A 500 sq ft apt would be enough room for a cat. Just make sure you have toys and play with them often.

You are not going to be able to find a young kitten at this time of year - or at least it will be difficult. Kitten "season" starts around April and lasts usually through the fall.

You should never train a young kitten to be "half outdoors". Kittens should be inside and protected from danger until they are almost a year old.

Even though you have quite a small space two kittens are much better than one, especially if you are away working or at school for many hours of the day. Kittens need to play and have people around to become well socialized.

I think it would be better to seek a young cat who has lived by itself most of its life. A mature cat does not need a lot of space and does not need the attention or training necessary for a young kitten.

Shelters have "bargains" on cats and kittens as they usually have had basic medical attention, have been tested for FIV and feline leukemia, are spayed or neutered etc. The cost to you is much less than if you were to do those things on the "open" market.

I agree with some of the other people who responded; some breeders will give kittens their first shots, but that's only if you're buying a pedigree cat. Shelters normally make sure that pets have their shots. And as far as the size of your apartment; I used to live in a 16 foot camp trailer with two cats and two parrots. We all got along OK.

most places such as a pet store or animal shelter do give the kittens their first round of shots before selling them or releaseing them to you. Even some owners will give the kittens there fist set of shots before selling them. individuals will try to make up for their money but the shots are not really that expensive and yes that apartment is big enough for one even up to three kittens. good luck

Your local humane society will provide the animal with its first shots, and usually a lot cheaper than a pet store. Shelter animals are almost always de-clawed and neutered, and in good health. And an apartment is fine for a cat, just clean the box often. :)

Some cats come with shots and some cats don't, whoever you buy it from will tell you if it does or doesn't. And I live in a small apartment and I have 3 cats and they seem fine!!
