Get good grades, take sciences and math. Get into a college with a good pre-med program. While in college, get good grades, take the pre-med requirements, your advisor can help you there, and keep your grades up. Also, start prepping for the MCAD. That's very important, and if you can, show INTEREST in medicine. Get some things on your record that show you did internships or volunteered in the medical field. Medical schools look at the whole picture. If you can, try to find a mentor doctor to give you support and help you know how to prepare. GOOD LUCK!

Don't let these other discourage you. Yes, sometimes you're in school until you're 30, but there are quicker areas that take less time, like radiology, ER, podiatry, etc.

Usually a pre-med curriculum in college, then on to med school. Then you have to do a residency for a certain number of years (often 4) at a teaching hospital, then you're a doctor that can practice.

You can be a "doctor" without the residency, but you probably won't get a license to practice.

And technically, if you can pass the boards you can skip medical school, but I don't know that anyone actually can pull that off, unless they grew up in a hospital with parents who taught them.

Take a well-rounded college curriculum with emphasis on science and math. Good grades are essential. Med school admission committees also look at your extra curricular activities.
Most importantly, stay out of trouble. A single DUI could keep you out med school.
