I told my wife once she needed to be on medication and she about had a breakdown on the spot. I'm not sure in your case what brought the name-calling about. But in my experience women tend to talk from the point of view of how they feel about something when they argue. Men think they're on the debate team and try to appeal to your sense of logic even when they're being dishonest about their position. So we tend to get frustrated sometimes when you don't argue "logically" like we're doing. I would ask him about it later when you've both cooled down and you'll probably find that he was just lashing out in frustration and doesn't really believe you've flown over the cuckoo's nest. If he's really one of the good guys he'll apologize for it and then you should forgive and forget.

You have to take it into context - how he said it and why he said it.
If it really bothered you, you should talk to him about it, but just be aware that he might get annoyed if he was just joking with you.
