no, it may, but it might aggrivate it even more. Just use a low dose of clearasil 2x daily after washing- the 2.5 percent strength so it won't irritate. If you want the swelling to go down, take an Ibuprofen- that helps a lot- especially if you want to go out somewhere and don't want your blemish to stand out. Ibuprofen is an antinflammatory, and will reduce swelling and redness for a couple of hours. You can just take it a few times a day until the pimple heals. I do this all the time and it even helps the soreness! Ice will also help, alternating hot and cold compresses will help flush away the infection and swelling.

I'm not sure what visine is, but when I dab clearsil, it takes the redness and swelling down a little. Its better if you do it before you go to sleep.
