I read an article, but am trying to find more information. Also looking for the gospels of Mary and Judas online.

In addition, although I understand conflict with archaeic church control issues, does it really conflict with mainstream religion, or just augment?

Gnostic has to do with knowledge. That was the focus of Gnosticism. It's all about philosophy.

Should be right in the ballpark for many on this forum.

You won't find the Gospels of Mary and Judas online... they were found too recently, and are not completly translated yet. There are some of the other Gospels in a book called "Documents for the Study of the Gospels" (David Cartlidge and David Dugan). Some of the Gospel is translated at the site above.
