Because not everyone is a Jesus Fre*k. : ))

Besides, God isn't a Name, its a title. Jehovah is his name, or haven't you looked in your KJV Bible?

Well, I'm an atheist but I capitalise the G in God for the simple reason that it is a name and a proper noun. I capitalise it in the same way as I would capitalise the name Steven and the Bible I would capitalise in the same way I would Hamlet (which is also a fictional book).

You only should if you are using it as a name.

Those of us that don't believe often are not using it that way. When I say I don't believe in any god, that isn't a name but the entire idea. So I wouldn't capitalize it.

Also, when it's not a title, as the "THE" God, but as a non specific noun "the gods were angry" it isn't supposed to be capitalized. The spelling cops would arrest you.

good question. God is a name, He's the reason we're here. nice to see someone else who knows the truth. Thank God (literally)

Why not the "t" in tooth fairy, or the "l" in leprechaun? I see no need to capitalize god. If he did exist, I doubt that he would have such an ego that he needs a capital "g" to feel important.

If it was capitalized it would indicate it was a proper name, and worthy of respect. Since it's an imaginary concept, I don't see the point in putting a capital on god.

It means that, I don't believe in god, when I do it.
Just like leprechaun, or my screen name (adam's first wife, lilith who became a night demon)
