...using quotes from the Bible, when the person they are debating doesn't believe the Bible? Are they too dumb to see that arguing the Bible when the other person doesn't believe the Bible presents a weak argument? Surely, a true Christian (a strong Christain) should be able to convince a non-Christian that God exists and is wonderful without resorting to weak Bible quotes, right? Because the quotes are weak, old, and make no sense to those who don't follow the Bible. It's a dumb argument.

If you were debating the spelling of a word would you not use a dictionary? God is the same yesterday, today and tomorrow therefore, the bible is always relevant.

Scholars are finding new codes located in the bible all the time, if you ever care to read up on this grab the book "The Signature of God" by Grant Jeffrey. It's really quite fascinating. Peace :-)

If you dont use some quotes from the Bible then who all will believe you but some people cant convince any one even if they use quotes. i think it is wiser to use quotes from the Bible because then people will know that it is acctually in the Bible and the Bible is the Word of God so they will know what the right religion is and that God said it was

I can only say two things.

1) If your argument be granted, then would it be sensible to say that scientists cannot use science to prove Darwinism? Of course it wouldn't. If I talk about evolution, I want to talk about what science says, what Darwin said, etc. In the same way, if you want to debate about religion, people should be encouraged to use the scripture they agree with. Christians can quote the Bible, non Christians can quote Carl Sagan, Tomas Paine, and so on.

2) I am reminded of a great quote........ "Preach God, and speak only when necessary" ..... Something like that. In order to show the merits of Christianity, Christians should be more convincing by showing that their faith has worked for them.

They don't have the normal debating tools of fact and reason. It's all they have, so they use it out of desperation. It's the ' it's more noble to fight a war with a wooden sword than to surrender' mentality. Most of them have no clue how dumb they come across. When analyzed with an open mind, the bible becomes as strong an argument against the validity of religion as for it.

No it is no different than an evolutionist trying to convince a Christian. There are conversions from both sides though admittedly very rare. Still the largest religion 32% of the Earth is Christian. Less than 3% are Atheist. 65% are Agnostic and other Religions.

I know absolutly and for certain that God exists. My Faith is based on facts known to me. As is the Faith of every one of The True Christian Faith... But...I can not "prove" any thing to you... nor can any one else of The Faith... the "proof" you require can come only from God. So it is between God and you.

The Bible of The True Christian Faith is not for non-believers. There is nothing ther for anyone who is not open to the leadership of the Holy Spirit in Their study of God's Word.

I can answer questios concerning the basics of The True Christian Faith. Feel free to email me with any honest question. But do not expect me to "prove"anything to you.... when and if youever come to know that you need God, and you finaly hear Him call, you will have the choice to come to Him or not... God will not compel you.... I have no "argument" for you... Just my testimony and my witness... that is all any one of The Faith can offer you...

Many Christians are taught that the actual "words" from the bible have a power. Hebrews 4:12 "For the word of God is living and active and sharper than any two-edged sword, and piercing as far as the division of soul and spirit, of both joints and marrow, and able to judge the thoughts and intentions of the heart. "

Anyway, I was taught that the words of god "themselves" were more powerful than my "human words." So in some cases they might be dumb but in other cases, they might be trying to bust out some word of god mojo on you.

foolishness is the best word for me to discribe such..We Christians should not be debating about such arguments..Y? because God Himself had given us all free will..we should not be convincing other people by our own intellect and knowledge..or the likes(do we have the power to convict them?NONE, coz it's only the HOly Spirit who has that power)i think, there is nothing wrong with the use of scriptures, since it is the source of our wisdom, but the "the debate thing" is not at all beneficial for me.
