Because of all the foreign countries that people visit on cruises dont have proper medicine for all the viruses that those countries carry like we have in the good old U.S.A so before any one out there desides to take a cruise, is it realy worth getting sick when there are so many beautiful sights right here in the best country in the world, plus it's cheaper and the money stays in the U.S.A witch is where it belongs.

None of the above. I just took a cruise 2 weeks ago. The sanitization on board was impecable. What you have is a couple thousand people crammed onto a small floating city. All you need is for one person to come on board who is coming down with the virus. That person grabs the hand rail when the ship is rocking. The next person comes along and grabs the hand rail, and the virus is passed on. It's literally that simple.

On the ship I was on, after they had a number of people get sick then went to red alert. They stationed Purell hand sanitization stations all over the ship. You couldn't enter the dining room without using it. People who got sick were quarantined in their rooms for 3 days. Everything was served to you, even in the a la carte lines. And the hot tubs were shut down. If you played basketball, you had to wipe it down after playing. If you went to the Internet cafe, you had to wipe down the keyboard afterwards. All of the paperback books were locked away and the hard cover books were wiped down constantly.

It's just the close proximity and the numbers of people. Plus, you're getting off at ports where people may have the virus. So if you weren't infected before, you can catch it then. It's just how a cruise is set up.

Lots and lots of people in the same small space for a week. There are lots of illnesses spread at the local mall, but no one has a way to track it because people just go home or to their doctors. Cruise ships are required to report illness if there are more then X amount of people complaining of symptoms. Just practice good hand washing and you will be ok.

I would think it not a lack of proper hygiene in the kitchen but in general a lack of proper cleaning of the whole ship. When you get off your cruise and while you are getting off the ship is loading on new passengers as you get off. Not much time to clean and sanitize in between getting on and getting off.

Because the companies or people that own the ships don't get the ships thoroughly disinfected. Why, because that would take a couple of days and that's a couple of days that they could be making money. There, That's the main reason MONEY!!

Because cruise ships are filthy, thats why! Have you ever seen those shows on TV where they investigate cleanliness on cruise ships and go around with black lights and see all that filth with the black lights! It is so nasty and disgusting!
