Have you been to a physical therapist? There are interventions including manual techniques, strengthening, postural re-education, stretching, etc etc etc that may really help.

I suggest a PT. You need one who specializes in spines/backs. They will be able to address some of the issues contributing to the shoulder, hip, knee pain as well.

Best of luck and I hope this helps.

I have the same issue, stenosis, and no real treatment here in the US, except epidurals and fusion. I have heard the Euros have over a decade of experience in disc replacement (US approved about 18 months ago, so doctors still in learning curve here)
This may be a question better posed on the Euro boards.
You have all my sympathy & I hope you find a better solution.

I have had this along with about every thing esle that can go wrong with the back. My main problem is severe scoliosis....had to major back surgeries in 2005. I ended up having to have my lumber fused, lost 2 inches in height which i truly believe threw my whole body out of whack????????? When i was having PT for my back my left hip started hurting and my right knee blew up?????????? To make a LONG story short, i had to have minor knee surgery to fix torn meniscus (torn ligaments) in order to have a total hip replacement!!!!!!!!!!!! Which i'm having in about 3 weeks....................first thing you need to do is get a really good spine specialist.................i live in Texas and had it done in Houston where they have the BEST doctors ever. Look in the specialists in your area. If you are in Texas my dr. is Dr. Stehpen I. Esses..............he is THE best!!!!!!!!!! Good luck!!!! I am only 47 myself so i know how you feel, especially when you have been very active your whole life......................
