I cant beleive no one at least pointed you to http://www.howtobrew.com/intro.html
I do agree it would take to much time to explain everything you need to know. If you really want you could get one of those Mr Beer kits. I got one for my B-day 4 years ago. It is a cheap way to experiment and find out if brewing is right for you. Good luck. Make sure you at least check out how to brew before making any major choices

I have made beer at home. And if you want to make anything worth drinking buy a book. The book is a cheap investment compared to what all else you need to get.

To start with you need to sterilize your brewing area... Which is why I decided against it. Well, not Sterilize but as close as you can to that. Also you need to figure out what Kind of beer you want to make. What you need depends on what you need. and are you going to bottle it or not? you can always check our the american brewing assc.

Now, that's just stupid.
My smallest brew book, with starter recipes, is 136 pages!
Library has a good assortment. Or, google.com
