It depends on the family size etc. Usually a single person is entitled to about $546 if they get the maximum shelter amount. They do get a drug card for prescriptions and some very basic (discretionary) health benefits such as an allowance for eyeglasses, special diet for people who need that etc. You have to apply for special diet and other allowances in addition to the drug card and basic needs/shelter amount. People may be given some money towards transportation if they are doing an approved training course or volunteer placement (sometimes called community participation).
