oh, sorry. her parents already know. I just think we all need to sit down and talk about the whole thing. what the kids are going to do, what they expect from my son, if we will have to fight to see this child. you know, things like that. This is all new to me. I just thought maybe someone else has had to deal with this in the past and could put some light on it.

Of course you contact the girl's parents. You and they will be sharing something for the rest of your lives. Keep that in mind too, because this situation could blow up in a thousand different directions. Don't say anything that will alienate you or your son from this child and the mother's family.

That's what you all are now, family, married or not. Blood ties are stronger than a piece of legal parchment. Circumstances are what they are, don't complicate things by fingerpointing or doing anything but welcoming this new part of your family into your home with open arms.

Keep your cool. If this child is coming into the world it deserves all the loving family that is available.

By the way, you are obviously not too old to be a grandmother and look at it this way...you GET to be a grandmother, and while you are still young enough to keep up with, play with and indulge a small child. You are luckier than you even know.

I was so upset when I first heard I was going to be a Grandma. After awhile boy was this baby a blessing, sweet and a genius. Lady, this baby will be part of our off spring so you must do everything you can to help this young couple suceed,

My girl got pregnent young but I made her stay in school, she is proud to be in college today. I find the boy's parents does not help as much as they could, it is always the girl's parents that set up that support system.

Whether you are too young to be a grandma, I did at 35. Please take it in stride, start collecting baby items. I guess in my family we always had this strong bond with the Mother's side only bonding with the children. A baby is a blessing from God.

Your son and his girl friend can make it in this world, let them figure things out rather than jumping in. Did you get the girl pregnent to fix things? How much this girl was not on any protection from getting pregnent, she is just as responsible.

Good luck
Don't get into people's problems, it is not your problem. If your son and girl friend want to call a meeting in your house about it, tell him he is welcome.

If her parents aren't cool with it, they could accuse him of statutory rape depending on what state you live in. I'd let the girl tell her parents and if they have a problem with it, I'm sure you or your son will get a call from them.

P.S. Tell your son to wear a rubber or at least pull out from now on!

Might as well go talk to her family. Discussions need to happen on if she is going to keep the child or not. For the health and well being of the child I hope she chooses adoption.

Link included on consenting age in the USA. Just in case they try to press charges of statutory rape.

Maybe focusing on yourself is not the most helpful thing at this point.
