you don't
(tongues)
God speaks through you. In a recognizable language that you do not know. No limitations on God, but I don't believe it still exists, based on Biblical info available. Not worth splitting hairs over.
Division among believers is not a good thing. Christ and Christ alone. We can talk about the rest in eternity...

speaking in tongues isn't something that you know how to do. it's done as God wills...God grants us many gifts and talents, some we keep for just about as long as we live, some God just drops on us when we are in the right place to carry out His plan.
speaking in tongues is mentioned in scriptures is mentioned along with the interpretation of tongues...this with other similar references to spiritual gifts show us that if a person were to speak in tongues, a person with the complementary gift (interpretation of tongues) would also be there to receive the message God is trying to give them or the world.

Examples from Acts chapter 2 show that tongues were clearly languages of other nations rather than the popular opinion that tongues are simple somebody blathering unintelligibly. Study the bible topically on tongues and see if that's not correct. But if you believe what the bible says, you only speak this way when God gives you the inspiration. But those types of miracles according to the New Testament do not happen any longer because they were supposed to "confirm" the word of God as a miracle. Those confirmations do not need to be done anylonger.

You ask for God's forgiveness (repentance) then you close your eyes and lift your face, raise your hands, and talk to God in your "playground voice." He loves to hear your voice and you talking to him. When you talk to him you might experience tears and maybe a quiver of the chin. Your tongue usually takes control and you don't know what to say...because your words are comming out for you. It is kinda odd at first but brings you joy and peace. If you want to experience this a good place to learn about it is in a United Pentecostal Church or an Apostolic church. They aren't hard to find. All the women wear skirts and the men wear suits. They always smile. I am one. God Bless you

Speaking in tongues is the result of being filled with the Holy Spirit, it is the evidence-the outward manifestation that the Holy Spirit dwells on the inside of you.
So, in order to speak in tongues, you need to be filled with the Holy Spirit. In order to be filled, you need to first have a heart that is sincere and full of faith, believe that Jesus lived a sinless life and died a sinner's death for your sins because He loved you just that much, and receive salvation and Jesus as your Lord and Savior. Then if you ask for the Holy Spirit I'm sure He'll give it to you.
Sorry if that's too much Christianese for you.

Speaking in tongues is a gift of the Holy Spirit. I speak because I am baptized in the spirit.
