My Mom has been suffering from the Shingles for two years. She has tried Pain Blocks, topical creams, etc., and cannot get relief. A family member mentioned that getting Botox injections would help. Can anyone offer any information about this? Please? Thank You so much. It pains me to see my Mom in so much pain.

Try Lyrica, Lidoderm patch, topical lidoderm, gabapentin, cymbalta or even botox.

I used to work in a pharmacy where the dr's would prescribe botox for shingles. It's not as uncommon as you think. It's just expensive! (and insurance thinks you're using it for wrinkles and sometimes wont cover it.)

Shingles is hard to manage. Please take care of yourself and your mother. She needs you.

My mom has pain from Shingles as well, though not as bad as she once did. She's been basically medicating with Motrin 800's or Vicodin whenever it gets really bad. Neither she nor I've ever heard of Botox injections helping though.

Vaccinations help the physique build antibodies with out having the full ailment. because she has had the ailment, her physique ought to have stepped forward the antibodies. If it did no longer, I doubt a vaccination could help.
