Who would you hire? A low cost guest worker or an American that wants a descent wage? Are you a patriot or a sellout?

No.

It's funny that more often than not the proponents of no amnesty are the same people who refuse to raise the minimum wage to make it a "decent" wage.

I'd go for the American. But, I'd also make sure he wasn't making $5.15/hr and living in poverty. But, that's just me.

The American middle class is being destroyed by outsourcing as well. I would hire an American for several reasons. 1) It is unscrupulous to exploit people. 2) Americans will put money back into our economy. 3) When calculating all the benefits it takes to sustain an illegal family, you can pay an American worker $10 an hour. 4) I love my country 5) Hiring an illegal is a crime, and if you have heard about Golden Star, you know what a crackdown they got. Some could even face jail time. I have no intentions of sharing a cell with a butch chick in a mullet. 6) I truly believe that Americans are some of the best out there. Worldwide, we work more hours and take less vacation than anyone.

I think your question is misguided. We're used to thinking of "middle class" as a union job in manfacturing, or something similar. These days, however, "middle class" is more likely to mean college educated mid-management position. So, guest workers are really hurting lower class Americans (carpenters especially), not so much the middle class. The middle class is being hurt by globalization- computer engineers in India for example. This is not the same as amnesty for illegals, this is just the reality of the global market.

On another note, it is amusing to read these answers. A lot of people seem to blame Dems for this problem, when in fact it has been going on for decades. Also, Dems are usually the ones siding with the employees, while Repubs usually take the view of the CEO- and the CEO will minimize costs any way he can to make money.

Sure, this is a market economy. If there are a lot of people willing to work for a lot less than the prevailing wage, ALL wages will go down. But that's what the Democrats want, if the middle class is miserable, they will think that the Dems will help them and in turn will vote Democrat. Never mind that the Dems are encouraging "undocumented immigrants" (or whatever the PC term is) to come here. It should be interesting.

Yes, it most definitely will destroy the middle class - it has started already. I would only hire an American citizen, not a guest worker.

I would hire someone who would work their butt off. I don't care what color they are, if they are a guest worker or an American. I was talking to a guy who owned a company and he had an all American crew before. He said the problem was they either never showed up to work, called in sick, had a hang over, or were just plain lazy on the job. He hired all Mexicans and he said they are the hardest workers he has ever had. They show up everyday and work hard. He also pays them a very good wage.

No. with the help of and massive, those shopper workers are taking jobs and wages that center type human beings do not choose. If some thing, the shopper workers will bolster the middle type with the help of allowing them to take excitement in extra luxury amenities. If no immigrant shopper workers, the middle type human beings would ought to diminish their personal lawns, sparkling their personal houses, and so on. And the unions are frequently destroying themselves, focusing on short-time period parochial pastimes, extremely than replacing with the circumstances and achieving out to new members, or searching on the coolest of the large image, not petty each and daily stuff. Too few of the unions remotely characterize the longer-time period pastimes of their club.

Ok first, the "middle class" aren't the ones who were doing the jobs that the mexicans are now doing.

In fact, mexicans have only taken the jobs of the lower class. Which forces lower class Americans to get an education and become a little higher class.

Ask a corporate shill who chooses to hire illegal workers instead of Americans. Point the finger where it deserves to be pointed. The middle class is shrinking regardless of who lives in this country.
