First off to all the people who actually said that abortion was evil etc. etc. my guess is Jesus would say "Judge not lest ye be Judged.", but considering the types of people Jesus chose to associate with, the tax collectors, the lepers, the prostitutes, my guess is he'd reserve judgement and just try his best to be there when someone needed him.

I agree with scriptureman on this one. From the time that an egg is fertilized at conception, life begins. Everything that is needed to make that human life is there at that precise moment. Nothing else is added. Period. Murdering a child because a person is too lazy to either use birth control, or make what sacrifices they need to to be a parent is one of the most immoral acts of selfishness a person could perform. Puts a person in the same category as Caesar, killing all male children 2 years old and under upon the birth of Jesus. Or Pharoah, decreeing that all Hebrew firstborn children were to be killed, which caused the Egyptian firstborn to die. To the gal above me - Pharoah did that, not God! He was warned before he made that decree. The killing of a child is murder. Unless your name is Andrea Yates, of course. To gent of style - Quoting scriptures and laws of God IS NOT JUDGING! The Word of God judges, and rightly so.

Abortion
"Abortion merely to prevent the birth of an unwanted child is strictly forbidden in the Cause. There may, however, be instances in which an abortion would be justified by medical reasons, and legislation on this matter has been left to the Universal House of Justice. At the present time, however, the House of Justice does not intend to legislate on this very delicate issue, and therefore it is left to the consciences of those concerned who must carefully weigh the medical advice in the light of the general guidance given in the teachings."
(From a letter written on behalf of the Universal House of Justice to the National Spiritual Assembly of Ireland, March 16, 1983)
1155. Surgical Operation and Abortion -- The soul Appears at Conception
"Abortion and surgical operations for the purpose of preventing the birth of unwanted children are forbidden in the Cause unless there are circumstances which justify such actions on medical grounds, in which case the decision, at present, is left to the consciences of those concerned who must carefully weigh the medical advice in the light of the general guidance given in the Teachings. Beyond this nothing has been found in the Writings concerning specific methods or procedures to be used in family planning. It should be pointed out, however, that the Teachings state that the soul appears at conception, and that therefore it would be improper to use such a method, the effect of which would be to produce an abortion after conception has taken place."
(From letter written on behalf of the Universal House of Justice to an individual believer, May 23, 1975)

Well judging by the logic given by most christians about god's will, it is because he has a reason. Apparently god has a hand in all events and knows the future of all things, yet we are not supposed to anger him, yet he knows we are going to do nasty things anyway? Makes a lot of nonsense if you ask me.
So whether or not it is justified by the person doing it, it matters not.

"Then said he unto the disciples, It is impossible but that offences will come: but woe unto him, through whom they come! It were better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and he cast into the sea, than that he should offend one of these little ones."
Luke 17:1-2
"And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me." Matthew 25:40
"Jesus said, Thou shalt do no murder, Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not bear false witness" Matthew 19:18B
"Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it." John 8:44

Honestly, I do not know. No one knows. Personally, I think He would tell us to work to improve the adoption system so that abortion won't be needed as much.

Unless its going to affect the health of the mother, or it was a rape child or something, abortion should be avoided! It is killing an innocent child after all.
