According to my Doctor's I just have the flu, but I know whatever it is kept me in the bed completly for a week, I finally got my Doctor to give me some Antibotics on Saturday and I'm beginning to feel better. But I'm 32 weeks pregnant too so they are really careful to give me any meds.

The time it takes depends on the person. I'm a singer and can give you some tips to speed up the recovery process.
1. Drink lots of water
2. Chew gum to keep your throat lubricated
3. Put your head over a bowl of hot water and breath in the steam. Do this frequently
4. Don't talk, if you must, speak softly but don't whisper as it is more damaging.
5. Get some manuka honey and have a teaspoon every now and then because it's good for your immune system and healing on the throat.
6. Don't drink alcohol
I hope this helps!

This happens to me every couple of years, more often when I live near something I'm allergic to. Since mine is usually allergies, I usually have to take something to stop my sinuses from draining. I know that that will be difficult or impossible for you, since you're pregnant. Do quit talking, totally if possible. Talking (even whispering) could do permanent damage and will definitely make it take longer to get your voice back. I prefer Ricola losenges, as their ingredients are more natural than some of the other brands that have been recommended. I hope that the combination of the meds you got and not talking will make your throat less sore. I've had it take anywhere from a couple of days to a week to get my voice back. I hope that you feel better soon!

I had something like that. Whenever I get sore throats, they are terrible long-lasting ones. One day when I woke up in the morning, I had lost my voice completely without a sickness or sore throat. I got my voice back within the hour. I suggest eating Luden's cough drops because they don't have any mint flavor what-so-ever, but they still work over time. I don't suggest the Vick's cough drops because just recently they made my sore throat go to a high fever.

Its totally up to your throat and how sick you actually are. Ive had laryngitis a couple of times. The first time i lost it for 3-4 days and the last time i had it - it was so bad i lost it for 3wks. I couldnt speak normally for over a month. Go to your doctor and ask for something to help you sooth your throat.

Many days...even a week or more.

What were you sick with? The Flu?

Do you remember the story of Celine Dion? She lost her voice completely from over use....possible ruptured vocal cord, they thought. Then in desperation they found a Physician who had an idea. Celine was not to speak or whisper for 3 months. And she swallowed small pieces of Ice chips. In time her voice recovered.

My advice is to whisper only. See a Physician as you may have a serious infection in your throat.

When you have recovered, please come back to Y!A and sing to us.

Thanks.

From WebMD:

Although symptoms of laryngitis usually go away within a few days, they may take as long as 2 weeks to clear up completely.

If it lasts longer than 2 weeks, you should see a doctor.

It will take about a day or two for your throat to stop hurting and 3 to 4 days before you get your voice back

I think it depends. When I got laryngitis, it only lasted 3 or 4 days, and then my voice came back. It sounds like it'll last a lot longer for you! I'm sorry. Best wishes!

Quit using your voice, totally. Your larnyx will heal faster. You should be able to talk within the next 4 to 5 days if you stop using your voice. Write notes.
